Rent Surf – Surfboard Rental Terms & Conditions

1. Company Information

Rent Surf is a surfboard rental service operated by:

By making a reservation, the customer (hereinafter referred to as “the Renter”) fully accepts these Terms and Conditions.

2. Rental Conditions

Surfboard rentals are available to adults or minors under the responsibility of a legal guardian.

The Renter declares that they:

  • are able to swim
  • are physically capable of surfing
  • understand the risks associated with ocean sports

All rented equipment remains the exclusive property of 

3. Reservation and Payment

Reservations are made online via the Rent Surf website.

Full payment of the rental is required before the equipment is delivered.

The reservation becomes confirmed and binding once payment has been received.

4. Security Deposit

A €900 security deposit per surfboard is required before the start of the rental period.

The deposit is taken via credit card authorization or another accepted payment method.

The deposit is not charged, except in the case of:

  • damage
  • loss
  • theft
  • non-return of the equipment

The Renter authorizes Rent Surf to charge the necessary amount from the deposit to cover any damage or loss.

5. Equipment Delivery and Return

Surfboards are rented per day (24 hours) with a minimum rental period of three (3) days, unless otherwise specified.

Pick-up / Delivery:

Rentals are calculated in 24-hour periods.

The standard rental start time is 6:00 PM on the first day of the rental period. Equipment will be delivered to the address provided during the booking process or according to the arrangements agreed upon with Rent Surf.

Examples:

  • 3-day rental: from Monday 6:00 PM to Thursday 6:00 PM
  • 7-day rental: from Saturday 6:00 PM to Saturday 6:00 PM

To provide the best possible service, Rent Surf may adjust delivery times according to logistical constraints, traffic conditions, weather conditions, or customer availability. Any specific delivery time request must be agreed upon in advance.

Return:

The rented equipment must be returned or made available for collection at the agreed time corresponding to the end of the 24-hour rental period.

The customer agrees to be present or to make the equipment available at the agreed collection address.

⚠️ Any equipment not returned or not made available for collection at the scheduled time may result in the automatic charge of an additional rental day at the applicable rate.

Late Return:

Any delay in returning the equipment may result in the automatic charge of an additional rental day at the applicable rate.

Rent Surf reserves the right to take any necessary action to recover the rented equipment if it is not returned within a reasonable period of time.

If the customer wishes to extend the rental period, they must contact Rent Surf before the scheduled return time. Any extension is subject to equipment availability and may incur additional charges.

6. Proof of Service

The handover of the equipment to the Renter, or to any person acting on their behalf, constitutes proof that the service has been provided.

The following elements may serve as proof:

  • booking confirmation
  • signed rental agreement
  • delivery confirmation
  • photograph or digital confirmation

The Renter acknowledges that once the equipment has been delivered according to the reservation, the service is considered fulfilled.

7. Use of Equipment

The Renter agrees to use the surfboard responsibly and exclusively for surfing activities.

The Renter must take all necessary precautions to protect the equipment.

It is strictly prohibited to:

  • sub-rent or lend the equipment to third parties
  • use the equipment in clearly unsafe conditions
  • leave the surfboard unattended in public places

8. Responsibility

The Renter is fully responsible for the equipment during the entire rental period.

This includes responsibility for:

  • damage
  • loss
  • theft

Rent Surf shall not be held responsible for any accidents, injuries or damages occurring during the use of the rented equipment.

9. Surf Risks

Surfing is an activity that involves inherent risks related to:

  • ocean conditions
  • waves and currents
  • seabed hazards
  • other surfers

The Renter acknowledges these risks and agrees to surf under their sole responsibility.

10. Damage, Loss and Repair Fees

If the equipment is damaged, lost or stolen, Rent Surf may charge the Renter according to the following repair schedule.

Repairs

  • Minor damage (crack, hole or ding ≤ 2 cm)

€20 for the first repair
€10 for each additional repair

  • Major damage (crack, hole or break > 4 cm)

€40 per repair

Loss or Theft

Midlength surfboard: €900
Shortboard surfboard: €900

If the repair or replacement cost exceeds the deposit amount, the remaining balance will be invoiced to the Renter.

11. Loss of Equipment in the Ocean

If the surfboard is lost in the ocean (for example after a fall, leash break, or strong current), the Renter remains responsible for the equipment.

If the surfboard cannot be recovered after reasonable attempts, it will be considered lost and charged according to the replacement price.

12. Cancellation Policy

Cancellation terms are specified during the booking process.

According to Article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal does not apply to leisure services provided on specific dates.

No refund will be issued if the equipment is not used due to:

  • personal reasons
  • weather conditions
  • surf conditions

 

13. Weather and Surf Conditions

Weather conditions, ocean conditions or the absence of waves do not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund.

Surfing depends on natural conditions beyond the control of Rent Surf.

14. Personal Data

Personal data collected during the booking process is used solely for managing the rental and customer relationship.

Rent Surf does not share this data with third parties.

15. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by French law.

In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to attempt an amicable resolution before any legal proceedings. Rent Surf reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time.
